Moray's Old Course was my first proper taste of links golf and I absolutely loved it! From the undulating fairways to punishing bunkers to completely blind approach shots, it is a wonderful Tom Morris design, full of character and charm. The course runs out and back alongside the Moray Firth offering stunning views of the bay and rolling hills in the background.

A few holes really stood out. The 11th (“Lighthouse”) is a stunning par 4, with views of the Covesea Lighthouse framing your approach. And the 18th (“Home”) is a proper finish: a strong par 4 with bunkers everywhere you look and out-of-bounds running along the right.

Conditioning was excellent during my round, and it’s clear the club takes great pride in the course. The clubhouse is traditional and welcoming, with just enough of a local buzz to make you feel part of something historic. Green fees are around £95, which, for a course of this pedigree, feels fair.
