Nestled on the scenic Chanonry Peninsula in the Scottish Highlands, Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club delivers a truly memorable golfing experience. As one of the oldest clubs in Scotland—established in 1888—this traditional links course combines history, challenge, and spectacular coastal views into one exceptional package.

From the first tee, you're struck by the course's unique layout. Stretching along a narrow strip of land between the Moray Firth and the village of Rosemarkie, the fairways hug the shoreline, with the sea acting as both a hazard and a breathtaking backdrop. The wind off the water adds a genuine links-style test that requires strategic shot-making and a good feel for the ground game.

The course itself is not long by modern standards (around 5,100 meters from the men's tees), but it’s deceptively tricky. Small, fast greens, pot bunkers, and natural undulations demand precision over power. Each hole has character, but standouts include the par-4 4th, which plays along the beach, and the closing stretch which brings the iconic lighthouse and crashing waves into play.

Course conditioning is top-notch, with fast-running fairways and immaculate greens. The club is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff and members make visiting golfers feel right at home. The small but cozy clubhouse offers hearty food, local whisky, and panoramic views of the course and sea.
