The penultimate stop on our Norfolk golf challenge and with it being a Saturday and tee times at a premium we decided to spend the day at the Barnham Broom resort, home to two course, the Hill and the Valley and two very different challenges at that.

Playing at the crack of dawn on the Hill course we were treated with some very pleasant weather. After a quick coffee and a hit on the range we headed to the tee. The driving range had a really cool feature that I’d not seen before with a manicured green in wedge distance, a great touch.

The first is a par 4 sliding to the left working up the hill and swiftly followed by a par 3 to an elevated green, a sure sign of what was to come. The 3rd has a blind tee shot and the 4th is an elevated green. The 5th is flatter but with a creek running through the middle and a hazard left of the green it makes it a really tricky, thought provoking hole. A great opening stretch in my opinion. The course flattens up a bit after that but still has plenty of intrigue with changes in elevation, angled fairways and raised greens. For £39 a round I think it is fantastic value, a course that offers a lot and in pretty good condition and I shot my lowest ever round here so of course I’m going to have fond memories!
