After being blown apart from Gullane's No 2 course the day before, Duddingston offered much needed respite and a return to a more familiar setting of a parkland golf course. A sight I was delighted to see.

Set beneat Arthur's Seat and a short drive from Edinburgh's city centre, it offers a very peaceful and tranquil round of golf with wonderfully manicured, patterned fairways. At close to 6,000 meters off the tees and lines with thick sets of trees it is a tricky, challenging course but one that I found joy on shooting my best score of the trip and returning some hope that I knew how to hit a golf ball.

With many twists, turns, lifts and drops it is a lovely design for a course set in a very urban area. One that anyone would enjoy being a member of and one that I'd definitely return to in the future.
