Lingdale is a course in a beautiful setting set in the Charnwood Forest. I'm lucky enough to know a member and have played here quite a few times for an incredibly generous rate. This part of the Leicestershire countryside is so nice and tranquil despite a road running through the middle of the course you still feel truly embedded in nature.
The course is a tight one, with not a huge amount of water. Trees provide your main nemesis here and with fairways that slope typically from right to left you often find yourself having to play creative shots to get out of danger.
There is a lovely mix of holes with some winding through the trees, others offering steep changes in elevation and some great views over the neighbouring hills.
During the summer months it does get quite dry and could do with a little bit of work on the maintenance but overall the greens are in very good condition and it is nothing to be scoffed at.
There is a really nice atmosphere to the club and are very welcoming to visitors with a nice little pro shop, big wide open bar overlooking the 18th green and a good array of practice facilities.
