Rothley Park had the best greens I’ve played on in Leicestershire so far. Plenty of courses to go albeit. The course itself is quite a nice one, it’s relatively similar to some of the other parkland courses in the area without many changes in elevation though. As mentioned the greens were in great condition and were very tough to put on, loads of different tiers and none of them completely flat.

The course isn’t too difficult for higher handicappers, the fairways are quite generous and the tree line is quite forgiving in most places. There are a couple of driveable par 4’s which is always good fun and the 9th has a very interesting green with a downhill approach and a steep drop off the back. Can quite easily see many balls hitting the hill in front of the green and rolling over the back.

Not so sure about the members and the etiquette here, we had a 4 ball come up behind us almost demanding to play through and having watched them play some shots I think we’d have been stuck behind them. Never seen this before.

The practice facilities were okay, there is a driving range but it requires you bringing your own balls. There is however a net and a putting green in front of the clubhouse. For £40 a round it is decent value for money.
