Back in the days when I was living in East London and living in Wanstead itself, it would've been rude not to play here. One Saturday morning with a couple of good mates from work we headed down to Wanstead Golf Club and were pleasantly surprised.

A parkland course set in a very densely populated area, it was a nice relief from the fast paced London lifestyle. The majority of the course is on a flatter piece of land with the 1st hole being on this section of the course before moving onto holes 2-5 which are in what was most probably an old farm field back in the day. Not the most glamorous selection of holes but with land at a premium, a solid use of the available landscape.

The rest of the course comes back onto the main bit of the property, winding through lines of trees with not much in the way of water, apart from the par 3 16th, which is the signature hole if I am not mistaken. A very pretty, short par 3, measuring at 130 meters, it sits right beside a small lake, offering a nice change up from the holes before.

A very pleasant option for those living in East London in search of a good course without being too expensive and overly challenging.
