I couldn’t get onto Fancourt so started looking at alternatives in George and this came highly recommended, and it didn’t disappoint.
We (was paired with a couple of elder Afrikaans gentlemen who had a very entertaining match play on going) started on the 10th which I would say is definitely the more picturesque 9 holes as you have the Outeniqua mountains in the backdrop. From the pictures you wouldn’t say it’s a difficult course but in dry conditions and with sloping fairways you have to hit the right spots otherwise your ball will roll and end up in trouble and from recollection the slops tend to go away from the green making some of the holes longer if you hit the wrong spots.
I think for price point it is pretty good at around R600 for a non-affiliated member making it cheaper than some of the more premium courses but still a great and challenging round.
Sadly, there is no driving range nor a net, there is however a big putting & chipping green. There are plenty of items in the pro shop.
It is one of those courses where I reckon if you’ve played a few times and knew the slopes you can score quite well, I on the other hand didn’t. There’s very little water and not much bush so as long as you stay in play you can do well. Would definitely recommend stopping here if you’re at Fancourt or the neighbouring courses
