81 - Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate

I thought Devonvale was quite charming as a course. Like a lot of courses in South Africa it is set in an estate however the estate is on one side of the course and only borders two holes so you don’t get the feeling you’re in someone’s back garden at any point.

The fairways were quite dry, I guess it is in the winelands so one would come to expect it but I found it quite an interesting course with plenty of changes in elevation, dog-legging holes and back-to-back par 5’s, one a steep drop to the fairway with out of bounds on the left and other holes on the right and the second a very narrow par 5 with out of bounds again on the left and thick tree line on the right. The course is also on a wine estate so you could always combine the two and does have a driving range and good practice facilities.
