145 - Golf du Medoc (Vignes)

I started on the Vignes course in the morning with a day at Medoc in mind and what a majestic little course this is. Teeing off at 8am in the morning with the dew still firmly settled on the fairway and the sun rising it was a magical experience. The holes are wonderfully designed with subtle changes in elevation on the fairway and fairways that twist and turn and narrow and widen at different parts making you really think about what shot you are going to play.

The first few holes have a heathland type feel to them with prickly bush in the runoff areas and a smattering of trees before you make your way into a more foresty area after the 7th hole and it really was stunning at that time of the morning. The fairways were lovely and soft and could take huge divots with your iron shots and the greens were firm but soft enough to reward good approach shots.
