Le Golf Parc Robert Hersant is a very interesting proposition as a golf course. About an hour west of Paris nestled amongst cute little French villages it is an idyllic location.

The course uses the natural contours of the land and offers a mix of parkland golf with some excellently crafted water areas which aren’t too overwhelming but beautiful on the eye.

The day I played was after a full day of a shotgun start tournament they’d hosted and also after a morning of heavy rainfall, so the conditions weren’t best for golf. I would say that some of the finishing touches around the course could do with some attention, the sort of detailing that takes a course from being pretty good to very pleasing on the eye.

The design of the course was really nice, a mixture of elevated tees, greens and even an island green which was quite fun to play! It’s a big target so don’t fear, you’d struggle to miss it.

It was difficult to get a sense of what the condition of the course would be on a nice sunny day because of the rain and the tournament the day before so I’ll have to come back and assess another time but the were plenty of memorable holes.

It is a reasonably lengthy course at roughly 5,900 meters off the yellow tees but with short rough and generous fairways it is a fun round to play without too much peril of losing balls.

At €77 a round for a guest I think it is very good value, it is not in pristine condition but if it was I wouldn’t have issue with that being a touch higher and especially given the proximity to Paris.
