Wilnis is situated in the vicinity of Utrecht and one that I really enjoyed playing. On a very hot summer's afternoon I played the 18 holes and was struggling with energy levels by the end with all the humps and hollows that the course had throughout. Not something you say to often in the Netherlands.
Almost every hole is unique in it’s set up with very few dead straight. Plenty of holes have water short of the green so makes you really think about shot selection and not being a hero. The 3rd, stroke index 1, has a really pretty approach to the green with water surrounding the left hand side, one of the nicest holes on the course. There’s plenty of hazard around and changes in elevation which can make it quite tricky so you’ve got to be careful where you choose to play. The club has good facilities and a nice looking seating area overlooking the 18th green and 1st tee box.
As I said I really liked this course! It had plenty of interesting holes with elevated greens/tees, doglegs one way or another and a good challenge as well! A very nice change of the flatter courses found around Amsterdam.
