55 - Golfclub Anderstein

Similarly to my decision to play De Kroonprins Vianen, I'd had a look a little further from Amsterdam and seen the highly rated Anderstein. I think I made a slight error in not checking the layout of the club as there are 3 9 hole loops, I clearly played the worst first up and was not best pleased to begin with.

The first 9 holes were on the Vallei loop, the first 6-7 holes of which were very uninspiring, poor fairways, very muddy and below average greens. No real intrigue.

However, venturing onto the back 9, things started to get way more interesting and the 9 holes here on the Heuvelrug loop were far far better. I'd go back and play this 9 in a heartbeat. There were undulating fairways, big raking greens with humps and bumps, lovely lush fairways and some a much more serene feel. For €80 I think you'd want to avoid the Vallei and try the Heide, I'll have to head back and give it a go.
